What will you learn during the  Lean White, Yellow, Orange, Green and Black Belt training?

Our training programmes follow a step-by-step approach, starting with the White Belt basic course and progressing to the Black Belt. Each level includes relevant modules that cover theoretical knowledge, explanatory videos, and assessments. Throughout the training, we provide online support.

During this e-learning training, you will learn about various Lean techniques and tools used to optimise processes and improve efficiency. The topics you will explore include the background and principles of Lean and how to apply these principles in practice.

You will go through various modules that cover different phases of Lean, including PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) and DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyse-Improve-Control) methodologies. During this comprehensive online Lean training, you will learn the following:

  • The background and principles of Lean, with a focus on creating value, eliminating waste, and striving for continuous improvement.
  • Key Lean techniques and tools used to streamline processes and increase efficiency, such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Problem-solving using PDCA and DMAIC methodologies.
  • Identifying root causes of problems and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Mapping and analysing processes to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Creating an A3 report to structure and communicate improvement projects.
  • Facilitating workshops and engaging team members in improvement initiatives.
  • Identifying the Voice of the Customer and translating customer needs into concrete improvement actions.
  • Analysing data and making data-driven decisions.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders at different levels across the organisation.
  • Developing and implementing an action plan for continuous improvement.

In the Lean Green and Black Belt training, you will learn to apply DMAIC:

1Define: In this phase, you will learn how to clearly define a problem and determine its improvement potential. Topics covered include project selection, understanding the voice of the customer, leading brown paper exercises, tollgates, SIPOC diagrams (Supplier, Input, Process, Output, Customer), creating storyboards, developing project charters, and facilitating team building. These skills will help you clarify the scope and objectives of your project and ensure the necessary input and engagement from all relevant stakeholders.

2Measure: In the measurement phase, you will learn how to visualise and describe process flows, as well as how to create and analyse value streams. Topics covered include Value Stream Mapping, Swimlane diagrams, MIFA (Material and Information Flow Analysis), UDMO (Universal Diagram of Manufacturing Operations), creating a measurement plan, and identifying the eight types of waste in Lean. These skills will help you to understand and measure the current state of your processes and identify areas for improvement.

3Analyse: In this phase, you will learn how to analyse a process, measure its effectiveness, and identify the root cause(s) of a given problem. You will work with topics such as Lean measurements, Run Chart, Histogram, Control Chart, brainstorming, Ishikawa diagrams (also known as fishbone diagrams), workshopping, Pareto Chart, and the “5 Times Why” technique. With these tools, you can delve deeper into your processes to identify and understand the underlying causes of a particular problem.

4Improve: In the improvement phase, you will learn how to actively involve your team in implementing improvements. Topics in this phase include organising weekly and daily stand-up meetings, setting up improvement boards, and conducting process simulations. You will also learn how to encourage team members to generate ideas for potential solutions and how to select the best solution. The topics you will apply in this phase include Kaizen (continuous improvement), Kaikaku (radical change), Training Within Industry (TWI), Flow, Pull, Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), Kanban, Just in Time (JIT) production, and identifying TIMWOODS (the eight wastes). These techniques and tools will help you dig deeper into your processes to find and understand the underlying causes of problems.

5Control: Achieving results is one thing, but maintaining those results is another challenge. In the control phase, you will work with topics such as establishing procedures, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), defining roles and responsibilities using a RACI diagram (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed), using the 8D method for problem-solving, conducting audits, and implementing visual management. These techniques and tools will help you sustain the improvements you have implemented and ensure continuous improvement.

As well as learning practical tools and techniques, the training will also equip you with so-called softer skills, such as change management and understanding team dynamics. These aspects are just as important for the success of your improvement projects as the technical capabilities. You will learn how to promote a culture of continuous improvement within your organisation.

In summary, after completing the training, you will have a deep understanding of the Lean philosophy and practical knowledge and skills to apply Lean techniques and methodologies. You will be able to reduce waste, optimise processes, address complex problems, and implement sustainable improvements, all contributing to a culture of continuous improvement within your organisation. With this acquired knowledge and skills, you will be able to promote a culture of continuous improvement and contribute to the growth and efficiency of your organisation. You will be able to optimise processes, reduce waste, and systematically address problems, all contributing to creating value for the customer and achieving sustainable improvements within your organisation.

The merits of online learning:

Online learning is becoming increasingly popular due to the many benefits it offers. The flexibility it provides is unparalleled: you can study at a time to suit you, without having to commit to a fixed schedule. This is especially convenient for those people who have work, family or other

Online learning also allows you to learn at your own pace. You can process and understand the information in a way that matches your learning speed. If you are a fast learner, you don’t have to wait for others, and if you need extra time, you can take it.

Another significant advantage of online learning is the cost and time savings. Without travel expenses and with lower tuition fees compared to classroom courses, online learning is often more cost effective. Additionally, you save time that would otherwise be spent on travel or commuting.

This wouldn’t be balanced if we didn’t also address some of the challenges associated with online learning. While technological advancements have made timely communication much easier, the lack of direct interaction with trainers could be perceived as an obstacle. Fortunately, we provide support via phone, app, or email to compensate for this.

Online learning also requires a certain level of self-discipline. Without the structure of a fixed schedule, it can be tempting to procrastinate. Technical issues can also prove challenging and frustrating for delegates if they are unable to rely on functioning technology and internet access.

Despite these challenges, online learning does offer numerous benefits and opens the doors to flexible and accessible education for everyone, everywhere.

How much time is required to complete the five training programmes?
